I host my website with Vercel. The provider is Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA.

When you visit my website, Vercel collects various log files, including your IP addresses. The use of Vercel is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. I have a legitimate interest in ensuring that my website is presented as reliably as possible.

Server Log Files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. To understand how this website is found and used, I use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service by Vercel Inc. It records page views together with aggregated technical information such as the page visited, the time, the referrer, and a coarse device platform/operating system (e.g. iOS or Android), country, and browser. The measurement script is served from this website’s own domain, so no request is made to a third-party host. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies, does not create cross-site user profiles, and the data cannot be traced back to you as an individual. Clicks on the “Support my work” link are counted the same way: the link opens a short forwarding page on this website, whose page view is recorded like any other. Any transfer to the USA relies on the safeguards described above.

The “Support my work” link in the footer opens a short forwarding page on this website, which counts the click as described under reach measurement and then takes you on to PayPal. Nothing is loaded from PayPal on this website, and no data reaches PayPal before you arrive on PayPal’s page.

If you follow it and send a payment, PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg, processes your data as an independent controller under its own privacy statement: https://www.paypal.com/de/legalhub/paypal/privacy-full.

From the payment I receive your name, your email address, the amount, the date and any note you add. I use this data only to process and record the payment. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR and, for keeping the payment records, Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR together with the retention obligations of German tax law (§ 147 AO). The records are deleted once the statutory retention period has expired.

You have the right at any time to: receive information about your stored personal data, request the correction or deletion of this data, demand the restriction of processing, object to the processing, and lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
